Chesterfield Masterplan

Masterplan + architectural conceptDesign study
The retail frontage, landscape and street connect the buildings with everyday movement through the Chesterfield masterplan.
The idea

Different uses. A shared sense of place.

A masterplan study brings housing, retail and shared open space into one connected development. K5 explores the relationships between the buildings before treating each as a separate object.

Masterplan + architectural concept

Start with the site.
Think about the whole.

The site plan sets out the connections between movement, buildings and landscape. Residential and retail facade studies then test how different uses can belong to the same place without looking identical.

The plan

The masterplan connects different uses, access routes and open spaces.

In the details
A passage between buildings opens another way through the development.
A lower residential form explores another way of meeting the ground.
You found Einstein.

A little brilliance.
A little mischief.

K5’s Einstein character working on a laptop

Einstein has a small but spirited place in the K5 world. For us, he stands for a simple idea: have fun while being brilliant.

Ask the unexpected question. Make a new connection. Enjoy figuring it out. That spirit belongs in the work, too.

The wild hair is optional.
